Drill: Walkback Drill

The Walkback Drill emphasizes your ability to use precision at increasing distances. The great part of this drill is that it requires only a 3 by 5 index card as a target. Its originator, Todd Green at pistol-training.com, developed many drills that we use a standard metrics today.

Walkback Drill:

For each distance, fire 5 rounds into the index card. All 5 rounds must be on the index card prior to moving to the next position. When you can no longer keep all 5 rounds on the card, you have reached your limit. Keep working toward improving your precision. This skill can be performed at the beginning or the end of a range session as a metric of your current accuracy.

Distance: Start at 3 yards, then go to 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, and 20

Target: 3x5 index card

Par Time: None
