Scott Jedlinski is considered to be one of the founders of modern red dot technique for the pistol. His instruction has been sought all over the country by departments, agencies and private citizens.

Having taken Scott's RDS Pistol class, I have an idea of how he likes to instruct. His class begins with the building block of grip, which he works through an experimental method for each person.

His teaching style is very laid back, with lots of jokes and fun stories. While he freely states that he has never been a police officer or military member, his experience comes from the competition realm. His techniques are therefore developed around the idea that speed is attainable and can be necessary, and accuracy is fundamental.

One teaching point he uses is that one would not lift heavy weights while working on running quickly. Those things need to be worked in isolation. He equates this to speed and accuracy. If you are working raw hand speed, he says you need to accept some flyers, or you will never get comfortable with going that fast. Likewise, he states that pinpoint accuracy should be worked without an emphasis on time.

Scott's Black Belt Srandards have become a standard in speed work with the red dot. At the time I took the course, only a handful of people had made the standard. But with the challenge out there, many others have achieved the standard since.

I recommend Modern Samurai Project for anyone looking to improve their red dot pistol skills. The training and cadre are excellent.
