Gunsite Academy is a heritage firearms training company in Arizona founded in 1976. The company was founded by Colonel Jeff Cooper who gave us the modern technique of the pistol (think two handed shooting, etc) as well as the color codes of awareness with which we are familiar.
This drill is a current set of standards from that evolving institution. It only requires 15 rounds of ammunition, but can be challenging. Most strings are shot from the holster, so it is good to have a refined draw.
Target:
The target is an IDPA style competition silhouette. The score is pass/fail. All shots MUST be in the scoring zones.
Stages:
1) 3 yards, 1.5 seconds, 1 shot to the head box
2) 3 yards, 1.5 seconds, 2 shots to the body
3) 7 yards, 1.5 seconds, 2 shots to the body
4) 10 yards, 2 seconds, 2 shots to the body
5) 10 yards, 5 seconds, 2 shots, reload, 2 shots, all to the body (FROM THE READY)
6) 15 yards, 3.5 seconds, 2 shots to the body
7) 25 yards, 7 seconds, 2 shots to the body
Have a great time with this drill!
