Chris Cypert is a former US Army Special Forces soldier. His service in 5th Group took him all over the globe and in contact with a wide variety of foreign militaries that needed training. Often people forget (as Chris has said) that one of the primary missions of Special Forces it to train foreign fighters to resist America's enemies.

With this background, Cypert has a very nuanced view on how to train people. Since he has trained people with a language barrier in the way, he understands he must be accurate and succinct whenever possible.

I encountered Chris for the first time at a class about planning, awareness, and general safety. This type of "left of bang" thinking that can give you an edge by recognizing an unfolding threat before it becomes unavoidable. He spoke about threats, likelyhoods and even how to keep your digital presence minimal in the name of your own safety.

Since the class, I have followed Cyperts podcast appearances. He seems to always bring something different to the table, be it a way of explaining what is justifiable use of force, to why institutions keep the same doctrine past its expiration date.

I would not hesitate to take another class from the Texas sized viking, and I will continue to listen for wisdom in his interviews.
