This months drill is a dry fire drill in respect to the absolute bitter cold that is coming up here in western Montana. So, no ammo, no frozen fingers this month.

This dry drill is also a challenge to put in a bit of time each day. This drill won't take much time, but you do need to be consistent.

Dry Fire Safety:

Make sure the gun is empty. Check and double check the gun. The check it again. Seriously, take no chances.

Make sure there is no ammunition in the room in which you intend to do dry fire. Take no risks, sterilize the room of ammo.

There is no "one more click". If you have stopped dry firing, you need to go through the entire clearing process again before you get to dry fire again. If you walk away, load your carry gun and thing "maybe one more" you are inviting disaster. If you decide to go back to dry fire, start over by clearing the gun, magazines and room of ammunition.

The Draw:

The drill is to simply do 10 perfect draws from concealment. Be sure to clear the cover garment cleanly, keep the support hand behind the muzzle, and present consistently.

Here's the tough part: while 10 draws should only take a couple minutes, all 10 in a row need to be clean draws. If you miss the cover garment or get a bad grip or anything else that would cause you to reset, the count goes back to 1. Ten perfect draws IN A ROW.

The second challenging thing is that I want everyone to do this 5 days a week. 10 perfect draws, 5 times a week.

By the end of the month, you should see improvements in your draw, with in how clean the gun comes out but also in speed.

Work hard, be well!
